Measurement Register

The Measurement Register is a cross-site table accessible from the Measurements page in the sidebar navigation. It gives you a centralised view of every measurement taken across all your sites, with filtering, sorting, and quick navigation to view any measurement on its site map.

Accessing the Register

Click Measurements in the SiteView sidebar navigation. The Measurement Register is the default tab on this page. The other tabs provide access to the Calculator, CSV Import, and Coordinate Converter.

Browsing Measurements

The register displays all your measurements in a table with the following columns:

ColumnDescription
TypeThe measurement type (Distance, Area, Volume, Elevation Profile, Gradient, Coordinate, Height, Arc, Grade Check, Cross-Section)
SiteThe site where the measurement was taken
CategoryThe user-assigned category label (e.g., "Subgrade", "Pavement", "Stockpile")
ValueThe primary measurement result (distance, area, volume, etc.)
NotesAny notes attached to the measurement
DateWhen the measurement was created
ActionsView on Map, Edit, Delete

Each row represents a single measurement. Click a row to expand it and see additional details such as coordinates and measurement metadata.

Filtering

Use the filter controls above the table to narrow the list:

Measurement Type

Filter by one or more measurement types. Select the types you want to see from the dropdown. This is useful when you want to review only volumes, only distances, or any other specific type across all sites.

Site

Filter to show measurements from a specific site only. The dropdown lists all your sites. Select "All Sites" to return to the full cross-site view.

Category

Filter by the category label assigned to measurements. Categories are freeform text, so the dropdown is populated with all categories that exist in your data.

Use the search bar to find measurements by their notes, category, or site name. The search filters results in real time as you type.

πŸ’‘ Tip

Combine filters for precise results. For example, filter by Type "Volume" and Site "Highway Extension Stage 2" to see only volume measurements from that specific site.

Sorting

Click any column header to sort the table by that column. Click again to reverse the sort order. The default sort is by date (newest first).

Common sort patterns:

  • By date β€” see the most recent measurements first
  • By type β€” group similar measurement types together
  • By site β€” group measurements by their parent site

Pagination

When you have many measurements, the table is paginated. The controls at the bottom of the table show:

  • Total number of measurements matching the current filters
  • Current page number
  • Page size selector (10, 25, 50 results per page)
  • Navigation buttons (first, previous, next, last)

View on Map

Each measurement has a View on Map action button. Clicking this navigates you to the measurement's parent site detail page, centres the map on the measurement location, and highlights the measurement geometry (points, lines, or polygons).

This is the fastest way to jump from the register directly to a specific measurement in its spatial context.

View on Map opens the site in a new context. Use your browser's back button or the sidebar navigation to return to the Measurement Register.

Editing and Deleting

Edit

Click the edit action on a measurement to update its category, notes, or other metadata. The measurement geometry and values cannot be changed β€” only the descriptive fields.

Delete

Click the delete action to remove a measurement. A confirmation dialog appears before deletion.

Bulk Actions

Select multiple measurements using the checkboxes on the left side of the table, then use the bulk action toolbar to:

  • Delete selected β€” remove multiple measurements at once
  • Export selected β€” export only the selected measurements as CSV or PDF

⚠️ Watch out!

Deleting measurements is permanent. The measurement data, including coordinates and calculated values, cannot be recovered once deleted.

Measurement Metadata

Expanding a measurement row reveals additional metadata:

  • Coordinates β€” the geographic coordinates of each point in the measurement, displayed in your preferred coordinate format (see Coordinate Settings)
  • Survey reference β€” which survey's DEM was used for elevation data, if applicable
  • Design reference β€” which design surface was used for comparison, if applicable
  • Created by β€” the user who took the measurement
  • RTK metadata β€” if the point was captured via RTK, the fix quality, accuracy, and receiver information
