SiteView Settings

The Settings page in SiteView lets you configure your preferences for maps, coordinates, measurements, processing, and appearance. Open it from the Settings link in the sidebar navigation. All preferences are saved to your profile and persist across sessions and devices.

Map Defaults

Configure the default map behaviour when loading SiteView or opening a site.

Base Map

Select your preferred base map style. This is the default map shown on the CesiumJS globe before any survey data is loaded:

OptionDescription
StreetRoad map with labels, buildings, and points of interest
OutdoorTopographic map with contour lines, trails, and terrain shading
SatelliteAerial/satellite imagery

The base map can always be changed temporarily from the Layers tab on any site — this setting controls the initial default.

Initial View

Set the default camera position when SiteView first loads:

  • Last visited site — the globe flies to the last site you were viewing
  • Home location — a specific location you define (useful if all your sites are in one region)
  • Global view — the globe starts at a zoomed-out world view

💡 Tip

Set your home location to the region where most of your sites are located. This saves a few seconds of globe navigation each time you open SiteView.

Coordinate Preferences

Configure how coordinates are displayed throughout SiteView. These settings are described in detail on the Coordinate Settings & Defaults page.

Default Format

Choose between WGS84 Decimal, DMS, MGA2020, or NZTM2000 as your primary coordinate display format.

Default MGA Zone

If MGA2020 is your default format, select the zone (49-56) that corresponds to your primary work area. This zone is used as the default in the calculator, CSV import, and DXF export.

ℹ️ Did you know?

Coordinate preferences affect display only. SiteView stores all coordinates internally as WGS84 and converts to your preferred format for display. Changing your preference does not modify any stored data.

Measurement Defaults

Configure default behaviour for the measurement tools.

Default Category

Set a default category that is pre-filled when saving new measurements. If most of your measurements fall under a single category (e.g., "As-Built" or "QA"), setting a default saves time.

You can always change the category for individual measurements at capture time — this simply controls the pre-filled value.

Auto-Save

When auto-save is enabled, measurements are saved automatically when you complete them (e.g., when you close a polygon or finish a distance line). When disabled, a save dialog appears each time, letting you add a label, category, and notes before saving.

SettingBehaviour
Auto-save onMeasurements are saved immediately with default values. Edit them later from the Measurements tab.
Auto-save offA dialog prompts you to enter details before each measurement is saved.

💡 Tip

Turn auto-save on when you are doing rapid measurements and want to minimise interruptions. Turn it off when each measurement needs specific labelling and notes.

NodeODM Configuration

NodeODM is the processing engine used for drone image processing in SiteView. This section lets you configure the connection to your NodeODM server.

Server URL

Enter the URL of your NodeODM instance (e.g., http://localhost:3000 for a local instance or the URL of a remote server). This is where SiteView sends drone images for processing into orthophotos, point clouds, and DEMs.

Connection Status

Click Test Connection to verify that SiteView can reach the NodeODM server. The result shows:

  • Connected — the server is reachable and responding
  • Unreachable — check the URL, ensure the server is running, and verify network connectivity

ℹ️ Did you know?

NodeODM configuration is only required if you process drone imagery directly within SiteView. If you import pre-processed data (orthophotos, DEMs, point clouds) from external tools like Pix4D or DroneDeploy, you do not need a NodeODM server.

Theme and Appearance

Light / Dark Mode

Toggle between light mode and dark mode. The selection applies to the entire SiteView interface including the floating panel, toolbars, dialogs, and the Measurements page.

ModeDescription
LightLight backgrounds with dark text — suitable for bright environments
DarkDark backgrounds with light text — reduces eye strain in low-light conditions and provides better contrast when viewing the CesiumJS globe

The CesiumJS globe itself is not affected by the theme — it always renders with its natural satellite/terrain imagery.

💡 Tip

Dark mode pairs well with satellite base maps and survey overlays on the globe, as the dark UI panels create less visual distraction from the map content.

The Account section provides a link to your Pasco Cloud profile. SiteView uses the same account as Pasco Cloud, so your profile information (name, email, avatar) is managed from the main Pasco Cloud settings page.

Click Open Pasco Cloud Profile to navigate to your profile settings in a new tab.

Settings Persistence

All settings are saved to your SiteView user profile and sync across devices. When you log in to SiteView on a different computer or browser, your preferences are applied automatically.

Changes take effect immediately — there is no need to refresh the page or restart SiteView.
