Getting Started

Dashboard & Navigation

The dashboard is your starting point every time you log in to Pasco Cloud. It combines a project newsfeed with at-a-glance stats, open issues, and unread correspondence — so you can see what is happening and what needs your attention. This page walks you through the main interface elements so you can find your way around confidently.

Dashboard Overview

When you log in, the dashboard shows a two-column layout:

Left Column

  • Stat cards — quick counts of your projects, reports, open issues, and pending tasks
  • My Open Issues — up to five issues assigned to you, each showing a priority dot, title, and due date. Click any issue to go straight to it
  • Unread Correspondence — your five most recent unread correspondence items. Click any item to open it in the Corro inbox

Right Column

  • Project newsfeed — a scrollable stream of user-created posts (text, photos, site updates) and system-generated activity posts (issues raised, reports approved, tasks completed). This is the primary content on the dashboard. See Newsfeed Overview for details

Expand / Collapse

An expand/collapse toggle hides the left column to give the newsfeed full width. Your preference persists in localStorage — if you prefer the expanded newsfeed view, it stays that way next time you log in.

The dashboard is personalised to your account. You only see data from projects and organisations you have access to, based on your memberships and the platform's visibility model.

🚀 Let's go!

If this is your first time logging in, the dashboard will look fairly empty. That is normal — it will populate as you create projects, build templates, and start generating reports. Follow the How Pasco Cloud Works guide to understand the platform workflow, then follow the Getting Started steps to set things up.

The sidebar on the left is your main way to move around Pasco Cloud. It is organised into sections, with some items grouped inside expandable accordions:

  • Dashboard — home screen with newsfeed, stat cards, and widgets
  • Corro — formal correspondence inbox. Shows a mail icon with an unread badge when you have unread items. See Correspondence Overview
  • Directory accordion:
    • Organisations — view and manage your organisations
    • Projects — view and manage your projects
    • Users & Groups — manage your team, connections, and groups
  • Contracts — track project contracts
  • Documents accordion:
    • Reports — view, create, and manage reports
    • Notices — formal contractual documents and the notices register. See Notices
    • Templates — browse and build inspection templates
  • Issues — track defects and concerns
  • Tasks — manage work items and Kanban boards
  • Tools accordion:
    • Construction Calculator — concrete volumes, material quantities, area calculations
    • Unit Converter — metric and imperial conversions
    • Image Studio — annotate, crop, and mark up photos

Accordion sections auto-expand when you navigate to a child route and remember their state between sessions.

Collapsed Mode

Click the collapse button at the bottom of the sidebar to switch to icon-only mode. This gives you more screen space for content while keeping navigation accessible. Hover over any icon to see its label, or click to navigate.

The sidebar remembers your preference — if you collapse it, it stays collapsed next time you log in.

💡 Tip

On smaller screens, the sidebar automatically collapses to icon-only mode. You can expand it temporarily by clicking the menu icon in the header.

ℹ️ Did you know?

Settings and notification history are accessed from the user menu and header respectively, not from the sidebar.

Header Bar

The header bar runs across the top of every page and includes four key elements:

The search bar lets you find anything across the platform — projects, reports, issues, tasks, users, organisations, and templates. Click the search bar or use the keyboard shortcut ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to open search from anywhere.

Type a few characters and results appear instantly, grouped by type. Click a result to navigate directly to it.

Correspondence Badge

The mail icon sits to the left of the notification bell. It shows your unread correspondence count as a badge. Click it to navigate directly to the Corro inbox.

Notification Bell

The bell icon shows your unread notification count. Click it to see a dropdown of recent notifications — report approvals, issue assignments, task updates, team invitations, and more.

For your full notification history, click View All in the dropdown or navigate to the Notifications page.

User Menu

Click your avatar or name in the top-right corner to access the user menu. From here you can:

  • View and edit your profile settings
  • Switch your primary organisation
  • Log out of the platform

Search in Detail

Search is one of the fastest ways to navigate Pasco Cloud, especially as your data grows. A few tips:

  • Search by name or title — type part of a project name, report title, or person's name
  • Results are grouped — projects, reports, issues, tasks, and users appear in separate sections
  • Keyboard navigation — use arrow keys to move through results and Enter to select
  • Quick access — the ⌘K / Ctrl+K shortcut works from any page, so you never need to scroll to the search bar

💡 Tip

Get into the habit of using ⌘K to search. It is the fastest way to jump to any project, report, or person — much quicker than navigating through menus.

Notifications

Pasco Cloud keeps you informed about activity that matters to you. Notifications are triggered by events like:

  • A report being submitted for your approval
  • An issue being assigned to you
  • A task being created or updated in your projects
  • A team invitation arriving
  • Correspondence being received

Notifications appear in three places:

  1. Bell dropdown — quick view in the header
  2. Notifications page — full history with read/unread status (access via View All in the dropdown or from the user menu)
  3. Push notifications — on your phone if you have the mobile app installed and notifications enabled

For more details, see the Notifications documentation.

Favourites

You can favourite projects, templates, and other items for quick access. Click the star icon on any supported item to add it to your favourites. Favourited items appear in relevant lists with a star indicator, making them easy to find.

Settings

The Settings page (accessible from the user menu) lets you manage:

  • Profile — your name, email, phone number, job title, address, and avatar
  • Preferences — notification settings and display options
  • Connections — your personal network of contacts on the platform

Settings are personal to your account. Changes you make here do not affect other users or your organisation's settings. Organisation-level settings are managed from the organisation detail page.
